About our ingredients

To make our skincare products, we only source from fresh, sustainable sources and we buy from local suppliers as much as possible. Below is a list of all the ingredients we use and little more information about them.

Almond Oil: Extracted from the ripe kernels of almonds, it's an extremely versatile light oil. Nourishing, revitalizing, lubricating, and soothing, great for all skin types

Aloe Vera Gel: The gel from the succulent leaves are a wonderful healing moisturizer that also firms and tones the skin. Aloe vera gel is anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial and antifungal 

Arrowroot Powder: A starch made from powdering the rhizomes of the plant. Arrowroot is a light white powder that leaves the skin soft, silky and smooth.

Baking Soda: Also know as sodium bicarbonate it's a natural deodorant.

Beeswax: Extracted from local honeycombs, it's a natural emulsifier and helps add a protective layer to the skin.

Benzoin Styrax: A resin extracted from the benzoin tree, this oil is antiseptic, soothing to the skin and can relieve chapped skin, redness and itching

Calendula: The petals are extracted in olive oil from locally grown flowers. Calendula is very beneficial to the skin; it helps heal chapped and cracked skin.

Candelilla Wax: A natural wax that comes from a tree/shrub in the desert of Mexico. Its also used in chewing gum

Castor Oil: A thick, viscous oil extracted from the beans of the castor plant. It's emollient properties are beneficial for dry and mature skin

Coconut Oil: A rich emollient which is moisturizing, protecting, softening, cleansing and soothing for the skin. 

Comfrey: The roots are infused in olive oil to extract beneficial healing properties. It is helpful for wounds, cuts, burns, bruises, itches, and most skin problems. 

Eucalyptus Radiata: A milder type of eucalyptus which is gentle on the skin. Its cooling and anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, analgesic and helps kill odour. 

Gluconolactone and Sodium Benzoate: A preservative derived from ingredients granted GRAS status (Generally Regarded As Safe), it's accepted by ECOCERT in certified organic cosmetics.

Lavender: The essential oil is distilled from the flowers and leaves of the plant. The soothing, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties of the oil make it invaluable for many skin conditions.

Lemon: The essential oil is cold pressed from the peel. The refreshing scent is both uplifting and helps control bacteria.

Litsea Cubeba: The essential oil is distilled from the leaves of a small pepper like fruit in the laurel family. It helps control odour with a beautiful lemon scent.

Olive Oil: Extra virgin oil is extracted from the first pressing of organic olives. Olive oil contains strong antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties. It creates a barrier effect which prevents moisture in the skin from being lost.

Patchouli: Essential oil is distilled from the fermented leaves, and is anti-inflammatory and assists to control odour with its long lasting scent.

Peppermint: Essential oil is distilled from the leaves, the scent is refreshing, stimulating and reviving. 

Red Clover: Flower heads are wildcrafted locally and infused in olive oil. A gentle herb that has been used traditionally in herbal medicine to help relieve inflammation and itching. 

Rose Geranium: Essential oil distilled from the aromatic leaves, it has a balancing, cleansing, refreshing and astringent effects on the skin.

Rosemary: The essential oil is rejuvenating, astringent and antiseptic. Rosemary stimulates the circulation and the metabolism of the skin. Also helpful with memory.

Rose Petals: Harvested in early July and infused in witch hazel to make the gentlest of astringents.  Roses are also anti-inflammatory, toning and rejuvenating. Good for dry, sensitive and mature skin.

Sesame Oil: Extracted from the seeds of the sesame plant, the oil is nourishing, moisturizing, soothing. 

Shea Butter: One of the best butters for skin care with its moisturizing, smoothing and softening qualities.  It helps the skin to retain moisture and protects it from drying out.

Spearmint: Essential oil is extracted from the flowering tops. The sweet minty scented oil  is similar to peppermint with it's antiseptic and restorative properties.

St. John's Wort: The flowers are infused in olive oil until it turns a reddish ruby hue. Well known for its anti-inflammatory properties making it beneficial for wounds and inflamed nerves.  Also helpful for burns and bruises.

Tea Tree: The essential oil is extracted from the leaves of the Australian tea tree. The oil is well known for it's antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Vegetable Glycerin: A natural emollient and humectant with a cooling effect on the skin. Glycerin is softening and soothing to the skin and helps the skin to retain moisture.

Violet Leaf: Locally wildcrafted and infused in olive oil, the leaves are high in Vitamin A and C. They help ease pain and inflammation and soften skin.

Vitamin E: Antioxidant and helps preserve oils

Witch Hazel Distillate: Distilled from the leaves, flowers and bark of the hamamelis tree.  Anti-inflammatory and astringent qualities helps tone and firm the skin.
